Apple Murabba| Seb ka Murabba| Cooked and sweetened Apples

 Apple Murabba is a traditional Pakistani food. The main ingredient is apple cooked to make it tender and then cooked and preserved in the sugar syrup. Apple has many health benefits and traditional medicine encourages some patients to eat apples or its Murabba to regain health.It is also considered a breakfast recipe.

This is how you make Apple Murabba or Seb ka Murabba.

INGREDIENTS

8 big ripe apples or 12 smaller apples(peeled and cored)

One kg white sugar

Small cardamom powder: 1/2 tsp

Water to boil apples

Directions

  1. Put four cups of water on the flame and let it boil.
  2. Once it starts boiling, put apples in it. 
  3. Stir the water occasionally.
  4. Take apples out once they are yellowish and tender. Almost after 10 minutes.
  5. Leave one cup of water in the pot and add sugar in it. Discard the rest of the water.
  6. Once the sugar is dissolved, add apples into it again and cook for ten more minutes on medium flame.
  7. Take a drop of sugar syrup and check if it starts sticking on your fingers. It should not be very runny.
  8. Add cardamom powder.
  9. Once the apples absorb the sugar syrup and the syrup is thicker, Turn off the flame.
  10. Pour apples and syrup in a glass container after it has cooled down.
  11. Check the next day if the apples have absorbed sugar syrup more.
  12. If the syrup is thin or runny you can cook it again to make it thicker.
  13. The apples should be fully soaked in the sugar syrup
  14. The Apple Murabba will be ready to eat after 24 hours.
