Ingredients for Gulab Jaman Recipe
Dry milk 1 cup
all-purpose flour 1/3 cup
clarified butter(ghee) or oil 3 tabs
baking powder 1 tsp
milk 3-4 tabs
green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
oil to deep fry
For sugar syrup
sugar 1 cup
green cardamom 7-8
water 2 cups
Directions
- Put water, sugar and cardamoms in a pan to come to a boil. Let the sugar mix well in the sugar syrup and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Sift flour and baking powder.
- Add to dry milk.
- Add clarified butter or oil and crumble.
- Add milk as much as needed to knead the dough.
- Cover the mixture as it turns into a smooth dough.
- Leave aside in for 15-20 minutes.
- Make equal sized balls with wet hands. Grease your palms a little with oil.
- The balls should be round and smooth without any cracks.
- Warm oil in a pan and put Gulab Jamuns in it one by one.
- The Gulab Jamuns should settle at the bottom of the pan and not rise to the surface at once.
- Keep the flame medium. Let the Jamuns rise slowly to the surface. Cook until they are golden brown.
- Put take them out from the oil and put them immediately in the hot sugar syrup.
- Let them absorb the syrup for at least half an hour or more.
- Enjoy the yummiest eastern dessert/ sweet.
