Gulab Jamun recipe, Eastern Sweet recipe

The sweet and sumptuous Gulab jamun is everyone's favourite. The eastern sweets are incomplete without Gulab Jamun.
 
Ingredients for Gulab Jaman Recipe

Dry milk 1 cup
all-purpose flour 1/3 cup
clarified butter(ghee) or oil 3 tabs
baking powder 1 tsp
milk 3-4 tabs
green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp
oil to deep fry

For sugar syrup

sugar 1 cup
green cardamom 7-8
water 2 cups

Directions

  • Put water, sugar and cardamoms in a pan to come to a boil. Let the sugar mix well in the sugar syrup and let it simmer for 5 minutes. 
  • Sift flour and baking powder.
  • Add to dry milk.
  • Add clarified butter or oil and crumble. 
  • Add milk as much as needed to knead the dough.
  • Cover the mixture as it turns into a smooth dough. 
  • Leave aside in for 15-20 minutes.
  • Make equal sized balls with wet hands. Grease your palms a little with oil.
  • The balls should be round and smooth without any cracks.
  • Warm oil in a pan and put Gulab Jamuns in it one by one.
  • The Gulab Jamuns should settle at the bottom of the pan and not rise to the surface at once.
  • Keep the flame medium. Let the Jamuns rise slowly to the surface. Cook until they are golden brown.
  • Put take them out from the oil and put them immediately in the hot sugar syrup.
  • Let them absorb the syrup for at least half an hour or more.
  • Enjoy the yummiest eastern dessert/ sweet.
